Four Ways to Use Google on Your Website

When you need something, you search on Google, don’t you? Well, other people are searching on Google for the exact things you sell. It is imperative that you know how to get your items listed. Google offers many services, most of which are free, to help you get your advertising message to your potential customers.  Use the following free tools to improve the site’s performance.
 

Google Webmaster Tools

This is a great starting place. There are many free tools to help you with your site. Submitting a sitemap helps to make sure your site gets “crawled” quickly. Other helpful Webmaster tools include Site Errors, Search Queries, and Links to Your Site. All these tools give you vital information about your site and help you to improve any errors that may be present.

Google Analytics

This is the tool that gives you all the information you need to analyze your traffic.  It lets you know how many total people are coming to your site, how many new visitors are coming, what parts of your page they’re visiting, how long they stay on your site, and much more. It takes a quick second to sign up and is easy to use. It gives you a small piece of code to insert into your website. This lets it track all the important information it will be reporting back to you. 

Google Apps

Google Apps isn’t as popular as the other two, but it is still very helpful.  It allows you to have a professional looking email account without paying for and creating a whole new account. Many people settle for a @gmail email address because they like how easy Gmail is to use, but they sacrifice the professional look when they have a @gmail address. Google Apps allow you to use your existing email account with a @yourname.com address on the end. This makes your email address look better to potential customers. It makes you seem more established and trustworthy. It also offers other tools, like calendars and Google Docs, that can be helpful for your employees.

Google Places

This is a newer tool, but it is of great help. To ensure authenticity of the businesses, its verification process requires sending a postcard to your business address. This keeps scammers away. It allows you to list your website, email address, store hours, phone number, description, 10 photos, accepted payment methods and more. It also allows customers to leave reviews for your business. Google Places can significantly help your overall Google page rank.

There are other Google services, like AdWords, AdSense and Froogle, and though they are user friendly, it is still a good idea to consult a professional to make sure you use the right ones in the right way. You don’t’ want to spend valuable time doing the wrong thing.
